Thu 7/18/13 - Senator Big Government Graham - Small businesses will now be forced to comply with thousands of tax codes for online sales, he voted for a tax hike with the Marketplace Fairness Act, which will require online retailers to navigate 11,000 separate jurisdictions and tax rates in the United States for online sale

Dear Patriot,

Lindsey "Big Government" Graham is at it again. In addition to his recent actions supporting amnesty for illegal aliens with two or more misdemeanor convictions, he voted for a tax hike with the Marketplace Fairness Act, which will require online retailers to navigate 11,000 separate jurisdictions and tax rates in the United States for online sales. Small businesses will now be forced to comply with thousands of tax codes for online sales, all thanks to Lindsey "Big Tax" Graham's support of the Marketplace Fairness Act.
The Act expands government authority over online sales, just as the recently passed amnesty legislation expands government authority by enabling the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to effectively pardon illegal aliens with three or more misdemeanor convictions.  The Secretary can waive those additional convictions under the amnesty bill, thanks to "Big Government" Graham.
That's where your support comes in, because we're going to South Carolina with three of our activists to storm the state with local Tea Party groups and Patriot groups to highlight Graham's record and what it means for the citizens of South Carolina.  Amnesty for illegals re-victimizes individuals who've suffered at the hands of criminal illegal aliens.  Justin Darryl Walker, 30 years old, was killed by a drunk driver and illegal alien named Anna Gonzalez.  His mother, Loretta Robinson, was billed $50 to clean her son's blood off the street on White Horse Road in Greenville, S.C.
Gonzalez was later sentenced to 17 years in prison for Walker's death. He left behind his mother and father, a fiancee, and his son, Justin Jr. Under Big Government Graham's amnesty bill, a misdemeanor drunk driving conviction would be waived, and illegals like Anna Gonzalez would go free until they killed an American citizen, at which point the taxpayers would foot the bill for 17 years of room and board for the likes of Anna Gonzalez.
That's where you can help with your donation, by helping us tell Big Government Graham that his amnesty for illegals who drive drunk in our streets is wrong.  Our activists will be on the ground in South Carolina by the end of the month, barnstorming the state to get the message out and tell the stories of victims of illegal alien crimes, and we need your help to make this happen.

Sincerely,

Roger Stockton

With final chance to kill Senate amnesty within 24 hours, please call even the Senators who seem hopeless

Today is your last chance to make a difference in the Senate amnesty fight. We expect the final cloture vote on S. 744 Thursday morning.
Please go to the list of Senators below and call the ones that are appropriate for you.
Your Senator is quite hard-core for amnesty and almost for sure will vote for S. 744. BUT . . . .
. . . . But you can be pretty sure that most of the Senators below have not given a lot of thought to the fact that this bill is about much more than amnesty, that it is primarily about allowing greedy corporate interests to flood the labor market with foreign labor.
We need all the phones in all offices ringing off the hook all day to at least give these Senators some pause about the wisdom of what they are doing and to curb their appetite for continuing to press for an amnesty when the House refuses to take one up.
Shame your senator for callous indifference to struggling Americans

You can use any argument you wish with the Senators' staffers -- or simply say "Vote NO on S. 744."
I do think that today is a great day to just talk of the shame that these senators are bringing on themselves to do the bidding of greedy corporate lobbyists at the expense of the most vulnrable members of our society.
Here are some key reasons the Senators should oppose this bill:
1. VOTING "YES" WILL FOREVER TAR THE SENATOR WITH THE LARGEST OPEN-BORDER/AMNESTY FIASCO IN HISTORY: It repeats the mistake of the 1986 amnesty by giving work permits and legalization to at least 11 million . . . before any new enforcement, let alone before full implementation of enforcement.
2. VOTING "YES" WILL BE A LONG-TIME SYMBOL OF CALLOUSNESS TO AMERICA'S MOST VULNERABLE, ESPECIALLY TO BLACK AND HISPANIC AMERICANS: The bill's addition of 33 million new potential foreign workers in first decade during a time of high unemployment threatens to collapse the wages of many middle-class occupations and to retard the ability of the working poor to move up to the middle class.
3. Polls show almost NO public support (a) for work permits before full enforcement implmentation, (b) for increasing the flow of foreign workers, let alone the tripling of foreign workers.
4. The Weekly Standard reports that at least five S. 744 supporters do not. The influential publication found that Senators did not know anything about a provision in the bill that would give employers a $3,000 incentive to hire amnestied aliens over citizens and permanent legal residents:
5. John Carney of CNBC writes that the Congressional Budget Office says S. 744 would create "another decade of pain" for American workers. But that doesn't seem to trouble very many Members of the United States Senate.
6. Instead of discussing the higher unemployment and lower wages S. 744 would mean for American workers, the Gang is "in full horse-trading mode" according to Politico, which also reports (subscribers only) that the entire process has been "mostly via back channels and insider negotiations, with deals reached privately to lock up senators' votes -- rather than amendments adopted publicly on the Senate floor."
7. Erick Erickson of Red State has a list of quotes from amnesty supporters back when they were running for office -- and against amnesty.
8. And Sen. Rubio (among those quoted by Erickson above) reiterated his belief that the Senate needs to convince the American public to trust it on immigration.

DECEPTION ALERT: They've Just Added Some Bogus, Last-Minute, Border Security Provisions - Provisions That Will NEVER BE ENFORCED - Into The Senate Amnesty Bill And Harry Reid Has Called For A Quickie Cloture Vote On Monday Night.

What we're about to say is going to sound a little rough, but it needs to be said. Our elected officials are pulling this idiotic ruse because far too many of them actually think that you're too stupid and dimwitted to know what's going on.

They honestly believe that they're giving themselves "political cover" on Amnesty by throwing some last-minute phony enforcement provisions - again, provisions that will never be enforced - into the bill... and they honestly believe that they can pass their Amnesty bill into law before you are any the wiser... before you realize that these provisions will never be implemented... before you realize that you're being two-timed and double-crossed.

Make no mistake, Harry Reid and his allies on Amnesty know that patriotic Americans like you have the power to stop them from passing their precious Amnesty bill. That's why they're pulling this underhanded ruse... but Harry Reid and his Amnesty partners-in-crime made a major miscalculation. They've failed to realize that you're not stupid... that you're not dimwitted... and, moreover, they've failed to realize that you are a rapid-response force.

It only takes 41 Senators to vote against Reid's cloture motion and kill Amnesty... and in the coming hours we must FLOOD the Senate with faxes and calls disabusing our elected officials of the ridiculous notion that the American people are too stupid and too slow to stop their schemes.

Why Are We Saying These Bogus Border Security Provisions Will Not Be Enforced?

Why would any sane person think otherwise? When it comes to the misdeeds of our elected officials in Washington, past performance is indeed a clear indicator of future results.

Rush Limbaugh said it best: "It is patently obvious by virtue of their actions and their votes (forget their words 'cause those don't matter) that they don't want to stop illegal immigration. And the purpose of this legislation is not to stop it."

But don't take Rush's word on it. Let history be your guide:

Center For Individual Freedom The construction of 700 miles of border fence is already the law... it's been the law since 2006 but our government has only built 36 miles of that fence.

Center For Individual Freedom The American people are still waiting for the border security and immigration enforcement provisions of the 1986 law to take effect.

Center For Individual Freedom Barack Obama's Department of Homeland Security has done everything in its power to handcuff our immigration enforcement agents and his Department of Justice went so far as to sue the State of Arizona for attempting to enact commonsense border security and immigration enforcement.

Rush went on to say: "It's not that we're not smart enough to understand what's going on. We know full well what's going on. Republicans and Democrats both want open borders for their own political and financial reasons, and in order to get what they want, they're going to have to somehow convince us that they mean to do something they have no intention of doing, and that is securing the border."

The point bears repeating. These bogus border security measures are a ruse designed to give Senators the political cover to support it and Harry Reid has called a quickie vote hoping that Amnesty will become the law of the land before anyone realizes what is going on.

It's a scam... it's a deception... and we're not about to let them get away with it. A vote is hours away... we only need 41 votes to kill amnesty... and in the coming hours patriotic Americans need to deluge the Senate with calls and faxes.

Beware Of Deals, Triggers And Compromises.

What is fueling this mad rush to shove Amnesty for illegal aliens down the throats of the American people? Opinions abound, but the editors of National Review Online gave us some food for thought on the matter.

"This bill is in no small part a... product of the media-consultant complex that has convinced Republicans that immigration reform is the key to the Hispanic heart, and that Hispanic votes are the key to winning future presidential elections."

And National Review Online adds that, for Gang of Eight Amnesty supporters, the "play now is clearly to come up with some fig leaf of an amendment on enforcement that won’t affect the fundamentals of the bill [Amnesty], while giving enough Republicans cover to vote for it."

Here's a news flash for our Republican Senators: Hispanics aren't going to vote for you because you helped Democrats grant Amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, and the American people already know the "enforcement provisions" that appear in this Amnesty bill are bogus. Stop looking for cover.

National Review Online again: "Most of the so-called security triggers in the bill are paper tigers. The requirement that those applying for amnesty have clean criminal records in fact allows for two misdemeanor convictions and, like most of the triggers, can be waived by the Department of Homeland Security."

National Review Online yet again: "[T]he fines for illegal immigrants contemplated by the Gang of Eight can, under the current bill, be waived by DHS, and the collection of unpaid taxes applies only to levies already assessed by our dear friends at the IRS. The main security provisions of the legislation require only that DHS draw up a plan for security."

Here's the bottom line. Our immigration system is indeed broken. Washington broke it and it can't be fixed by simply allowing politicians in Washington, who are beholden to special interests, to continue breaking it.

Our border is not secure (despite far too many false promises in the past to secure it), millions of people who are playing by the rules and attempting to enter the United States legally are forced to take a back seat, and granting Amnesty to those who have broken the law by coming here illegally will only encourage millions more to do the same.

Senator Ted Cruz had it right when he said: "I think we should all be champions of legal immigrants making the system work and not just welcoming, but celebrating legal immigrants," and that real reform should not be "held hostage to an issue that is deeply divisive... We need to improve legal immigration... we need to streamline it... we need to reduce the bureaucracy... the red tape.. the waiting periods... one of the reasons we see illegal immigration at the levels we do is because our legal immigration system is no working effectively."

We stand with Senator Cruz. We need real immigration reform... compassionate immigration reform... common-sense immigration reform... but real reform will NEVER happen if we allow politicians in Washington to pass this Gang of Eight Scamnesty bill... And the sooner we kill this fraud, the sooner we can enact real immigration reform.

Today: (1) Mini-amnesty amendment pulled in House last night. (2) How did your Senators vote in tabling of amendment that would have required full border security before amnesty work permits? (3) Who needs to hear what from you today?

GOOD WORK YESTERDAY, FRIENDS.
1. You made the phone calls into the House of Representatives yesterday to let them know you knew about the surprise amendment to pass a test amnesty. I think you caught them off guard. In the end, the amendment was pulled from consideration!
Thanks to all of you who turned your attention from the Senate for a few moments and made those calls into the House. (More about this below.)
2. Under pressure from your tens of thousands of phone calls (and many more faxes), 43 Senators yesterday cast a clear vote for full border security before any work permits and other legalization for illegal aliens.
Key importance here is that only 57 Senators voted in favor of the bill's current format of amnesty-first. Only 57? That's way too many but it is three short of the 60 that will be needed to stop a filibuster on a final vote on the S. 744 amnesty bill. This is a first glimpse of the possibility of defeating this bill in a couple of weeks. (More about this below.)

NON-GANG REPUBLICANS NEARLY UNANIMOUS IN SUPPORT FOR BORDER-SECURITY-FIRST AMENDMENT
Don't read too much into this vote, but it was a very good sign that 41 of the 46 Republicans voted against the pro-amnesty side on the amendment by Sen. Grassley (R-Iowa) that would have required certification that the border is fully secured for six months before any of the 11 million illegal aliens would be eligible to receive legal status and work permits.
41 is a magic number. On a final filibuster vote on a bill, 41 NO votes kills the entire bill.
The Gang's S. 744 bill doesn't require any border security before giving legal status and work permits. And its promises of border efforts over the next 10 years are full of loopholes and waivers.
The Gang of Eight insisted on "tabling" Grassley's amendment so it couldn't even be debated or directly voted on.
I don't know what could be clearer to Senators on the fence that there is no pretending that this bill is serious about border security, especially when the pro-amnesty folks said requiring border security first might mean that illegal aliens never get their amnesty.
"This is a very provocative act," Grassley said in decrying the ending of a promised open amendment process on the very first day of amendments. The Democratic leadership's move on this definitely inspired some strong partisan bickering.
Tabling is generally a maneuver to kill something without a politician having to be blamed for it. I hope you won't hesitate to assign blame, though.
All Republicans voted against tabling/killing, EXCEPT these "border-security-last Senators":

Sen. Murkowski (Alaska) 888-995-2057
Sen. Rubio (Fla.) -- 888-995-5431
Sen. Flake (Ariz.) 888-978-3094
Sen. McCain (Ariz.) 888-978-3094
Sen. Graham (S.C.) 888-978-3094
Adding two more votes against tabling and for border security were Democrats:
Sen. Manchin (W.Va.)
Sen. Pryor (Ark.)
JUST DINING WITH A GANG MEMBER, or cooking up mischief?
A bit disconcerting later in the day was seeing two of the Republican Senators who voted for border-security-first sharing a booth and dinner at a Hill restaurant with Gang member Sen. Graham. They weren't chit-chatting but engaged in spirited conversation about immigration.
Sen. Chambliss (Ga.) 888-995-1975
Sen. Coburn (Okla.) 8889951952
There have been too many rumors about the two of them working on some magic border security amendment that might give a number of Republicans cover to vote for the amnesty without actually slowing down the legalization of the illegal aliens.
LOTS OF DEMOCRATS WHO CLAIM TO BE BIG ENFORCEMENT-FIRST SUPPORTERS VOTED TO KILL BORDER-SECURITY-FIRST AMENDMENT
All Democrats voted to table (kill) border-security-first, except Sen. Manchin (W.Va.) and Sen. Pryor (Ark.).
All kinds of Democrats have repeatedly state that border security is a priority with them -- especially those in states that voted Republican last year. But most of them ended up voting to table the amendment.
Because there were sharp partisan words in the bickering over whether this amendment would need just 51 votes to pass -- as is customary -- or if it would be treated like a final vote and need 60, we are hopeful that several of the following list of Democrats were more sticking with their Party on a procedural vote than tipping their hand that they will vote for this amnesty on the final roll call.
But part of the argument that Democratic leaders were making against the Grassley amendment was that if it passed the illegal aliens might never get their amnesty -- which pretty much makes the point that nobody expects the bill's provisions to secure the border.
Democrats who say they are big on border security but voted against really having it:
Sen. Baucus (Mont.) 888-995-2041
Sen. Begich (Alaska) 888-995-2055
Sen. Donnelly (Ind.) 888-995-2034

Sen. Hagan (N.C.) 888-995-1994
Sen. Heitkamp (N.D.) 888-995-2048
Sen. Landrieu (La.) 888-995-2026

Sen. McCaskill (Mo.) 888-995-2019
Sen. Stabenow (Mich.) 888-978-3092
Sen. Tester (Mont.) 888-995-2045
All are Democrats who have NOT committed to vote YES on the final bill and are thought to be swing votes. At least some of these will be essential for killing the overall bill to make up for any Republicans who were among the 41 on Thursday but who switch to YES on final vote.
PUTTING OFF THE HOUSE AMNESTY BATTLE TO ANOTHER DAY
House Speaker Boehner (R-Ohio) has been warming the hearts of the President and quite a number of other global-labor champions by saying this week that he is intent on putting an immigration bill on the President's desk this year.
Since it is assumed that no House-passed bill could get through the Senate unless it contains an amnesty, everybody is watching to see just what kind of amnesty Boehner and other House Republican leaders decide to pitch.
We felt the surprise amendment to give an amnesty to all illegal aliens who enlist in the millitary was mainly an effort to gauge support among Republicans for larger amnesties and to get them comfortable doing so.
It was fantastic to see so many of you respond immediately to my plea for phone calls yesterday morning. At the same time, our Capitol Hill Team notified Representatives that we would grade the amendment on the defense authorization bill as an amnesty vote.
I think many Representatives were quite surprised to have you telling them about something they may not have learned about yet.
A combination of circumstances led to the amendment being pulled before it could be voted on.
We will be vigilant and inform you as soon as we learn of the next attempt in the House.
